City of Light (She Is Free)
Verse 1
Last night
I had the strangest dream
A doorway opened quietly
Inside of me
I met my mother
Once again
As if she had rewritten
The end
She had staged her own goodbye
To finally be free
From the city made of shadows
That was never meant to be
Verse 2
She had found
Her sacred place
Among the artists
A different space
A city built on open hands
And honest souls
Where hearts are safe
And spirits whole
Where she was free
To create
To give and take
Love without weight
To simply be
To drift inside
A field of magic energy
Chorus
Tonight I visited her there
She shone like purest light
Not a single cloud in sight
She floated free
She floated free
Verse 3
When they are here
We often complain
About all the things
They ask of us again
But shouldn’t we
Learn instead
To draw our lines
To guard our breath
To set our boundaries with love
And let them be
Not cage them with
Our fears and needs
Verse 4
And when they’re gone
We miss them so
But tell me why
If all we do
Is mirror back
Our limitations
Into their reflection
Bridge
Can we learn
To be so free
Within ourselves
That we no longer cling
Not dependent
But awake
Grateful for
The time we share
Two whole souls
Walking side by side
Not out of fear
But choice and light
Final Chorus
For me it may not be a dream
But something true I know
She is always close to me
No matter where I go
Her body lives in other space
But now her spirit’s free
To finally be herself
Not just emotional shelter
For others’ needs
Outro
She is free
And so am I
In the city made of light
